"In the midst of making a significant career and life transition, I was fortunate to be on the receiving end of Andy's exceptional mentorship. He coached me as I worked to develop new skills in the area of developing the talents of college students, and collaboratively Andy helped me navigate the challenges of entering a new career. Without a doubt, if it were not for Andy's mentorship, I would not have been able to achieve the success I did through that specific phase of life." - H.S.
"In discussions, Andy did not have an “agenda” to push, rather he facilitated mature and complex discussion and understanding of the topic at hand. He encouraged me to look beyond the common tenants of a topic and pursue a tangible meaning and apply it to my life. Andy was also never satisfied with common-place. For example, rather than merely talking about the benefits of being truthful and sincere, Andy challenged me to do specific things throughout my actual-day-to-day life, such as giving everyone I speak to my full attention and to give people my word." - S.S.
"One of the reasons Andy had such a great impact on my life was because he would always encourage us to find practical ways to apply our lessons to our daily lives. The abstract concepts that we discussed were always viewed within the context of our personal situations, resulting in both a deeper understanding of the discussion and a clear path for using the lesson. Additionally, Andy never simply supplied answers to our discussions. He forced us to think critically and reach our own conclusions through the process of discussion. Andy is also a great friend and mentor who can both listen to and empathize with everyone he meets. He always valued what I and others had to say, and he added thoughtful insight to our conversations." - J.S.
"I’m a big fan of Andy Gann! I worked with Andy in several capacities for several years. Servant leadership was a consistent trait of Andy’s throughout the entirety of the time we worked together. He was a key leader in our efforts to aid recently resettled refugees. Andy contributed strong leadership in support of initiatives to provide social outlets for mentally challenged adults. Andy’s leadership and organizational skill, along with his compassionate heart, were clearly observed in this effort. Andy expressed significant leadership during his time as a graduate student. I observed first-hand Andy’s leadership in supporting efforts to reach out to international students. Andy’s peers had great respect for him, and he was seen as a mentor to younger students. Andy exemplified commitment, personal discipline, and leadership throughout my association with him. In addition to his many other abilities, Andy is a gifted organizer and strategic planner. He possesses a great love for people." - V.C.
"I had the pleasure of working alongside Andy for four years. Andy is such a joy to work with because of how easy he is to get along with and his servant desire to help out in any way he can. He is a true team player in that he was always available to help others in their work and understood the bigger picture of working together for the same purpose. I always respected any insight he had and the solid advice he would give when I asked his thoughts on something. Andy is most definitely the kind of guy you would want on your team!" - M.R.
